Serco receives National Awards for Outstanding Safety Performance
Date: 27 May 2010
Serco has again been recognised for outstanding health and safety performance with 23 awards and commendations in the annual RoSPA national safety awards.
The awards for Serco include the top awards for outstanding performance in two sectors; Transport and Research and Development. These two sector awards were won by Serco's joint ventures, Northern Rail and the National Nuclear Laboratory.
Other recognition included an award for Serco's contract at RAF Fylingdales for a sustained very high level of health and safety performance over more than fifteen years. Other services provided by Serco were recognised for a similar high level of safety performance maintained over a number of years including the joint venture at the Atomic Weapons Establishment, the marine services contract for the Royal Navy and support contracts at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Wishaw General Hospital.
Christopher Hyman, Chief Executive of Serco Group plc, said:
"Safe and environmentally responsible operations are fundamental to the high quality and efficient services that Serco provides internationally. I am delighted that so many of the services we deliver have been recognised by RoSPA for their high standards of health and safety. This continued success is recognition of the hard work and expertise of our people who remain committed to continuing the highest levels of health and safety performance."
