Dept. of Labor (DOL) Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
Preparing over 200,000 Service Members who separate annually from the United States Military begin a rewarding career as a civilian
What We Do
The Department of Labor (DOL), Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program utilizes contractor services to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Transition Assistance Program (TAP). Serco works to ensure Service Members and their families have the necessary career tools and information to seamlessly transition into the civilian workforce. Our skilled team helps Transitioning Service Members find apprenticeship and job opportunities to increase their on-the-job experience, and ensure they are well-equipped to enter the civilian job market. Through the DOL VETS TAP we conduct employment readiness workshops, employment counseling, and employer outreach. Serco is a place you can make an impact for our customer, as well as our military members and their families during an important life transition.

Here is a look into our DOL VETS TAP Team, the folks that make a difference every day
- Employment Facilitators and Lead Facilitators: Knowledgeable of the workplace, jobs, and requirements for entry into those jobs. They guide Service Members in identifying goals and recognizing any employment or education gaps. Facilitators teach DOL employment readiness and career and credential exploration curricula designed to assist Service Members (and their spouses) with their transition to civilian life. Our Facilitators also instruct specialized courses, such as Transition Employment Assistance for Military Spouses (TEAMS) and Off Base Transition Training (OBTT) classes, to meet the employment readiness needs of Veterans who are not located near a military installation.
- Employment Navigators: Listen to Service Members to analyze their expressed needs, suggest solutions, and create action plans. They provide job search guidance and career advice. Employment Navigators provide resume review assistance and connect transitioning Service Members with DOL- approved partner agencies that are a good fit for their individual career needs.
- Employment Resource Coordinators: Support Veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and their spouses as part of the DOL Off Base Transition Training (OBTT) program. Employment Resource Coordinators collaborate with American Job Centers, DOL State Directors, State Adjutant General Offices, Department of Veterans Affairs representatives and others to market OBTT services, participate in employment-related events, and schedule OBTT courses to help Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and their spouses meet their employment goals. Master Trainers: Provide training for DOL VETS TAP staff They create training plans, design training content to meet the needs of adult learners, facilitate training in person and virtually, , and ensure and observe staff performance.
Join the Team
Our team is passionate about supporting our military and guiding our Service Members and their families into civilian life. Many of those who separate from the military have transition plans while others find becoming a civilian a daunting task. We take away the stress, provide encouragement, and offer solutions.
If you are a Veteran, military spouse, or supporter, this is an opportunity to give back each day to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for every one of us. Because we have Facilitators teaching classes at military installations around the world, many military spouses have been able to stay employed regardless of frequent moves with their Service member. Our Veteran employees relate to a Service Member’s experience of shedding the uniform and starting a new chapter because they’ve experienced it themselves. No matter the role or program, you will have an impact here at Serco. The Serco team is ethical, transparent, and respectful of our people, customers, and communities. If you are interested in supporting DOL VETS TAP efforts, apply today for immediate consideration.
