Published: 31 Oct 2012

$50 million in ICT contracts have been awarded at Fiona Stanley Hospital, a critical step bringing Western Australia’s most technologically advanced hospital to life. Two Australian companies have been awarded major Information Communication Technology (ICT) contracts by Serco to provide ICT hardware for the local hospital, building local capabilities and creating local jobs.

In total, the contracts are worth almost $50 million and will see WA’s new public hospital benefit from the very best and latest ICT solution. This is the first stage in providing a fully integrated, end-to-end wireless service across the entire hospital campus. Installation of the ICT hardware will commence in the new public hospital in November.

Joe Boyle, Director of Facilities Management for Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) said:

“Serco is delivering best value for money for the public purse and the best possible infrastructure for Fiona Stanley Hospital. We are delighted to be able to deliver this exceptional result which will benefit not only public patients in WA, but also Australian business.”

Both suppliers meet the requirements of Serco’s Australian Industry Participation Plan for FSH and support Serco’s commitment to building local industry.

Australian supplier Data#3 Limited has been selected to supply the network infrastructure for FSH. Data#3 Ltd’s office in Perth employs approximately 40 staff, which will increase and create local job opportunities as part of the FSH contract. With over 1,000 employees nationally, Data#3 has been ASX listed since 1997. The company is headquartered in Brisbane and operates from nine locations across Australia.

Dimension Data Australia Pty Ltd has been selected to supply the enterprise computing, storage and backup requirements for Fiona Stanley Hospital. Dimension Data is a world leading managed service and solution provider, that specialises in helping large organisations with the design, build, operation and support of their core IT infrastructure. Dimension Data Australia is headquarted in Sydney and operational in all major cities, employing around 1,500 people.

Serco is working closely with their main ICT subcontractor, BT, in the delivery of Fiona Stanley Hospital’s ICT solution. Serco is delivering the procurement service for all of the clinical and non-clinical equipment for Fiona Stanley Hospital as part of the facilities management and support services contract. Serco is responsible for procuring $400 million of assets by September 2013 and $100 million of services.
