Published: 13 May 2016

Anne Davidson, Serco’s Catering Manager at Forth Valley Royal Hospital has been crowned ‘Facilities Management (FM) Professional of the Year’ in the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Scotland Awards 2016.

The award recognises outstanding performance in FM and judges praised Anne’s creative outlook and dedication to her role, particularly frequent visits to patients in the acute and community hospitals to whom 3,500 meals are supplied on a daily basis by Anne and her team.  Anne’s nutritional work with NHS Dietician colleagues and her support of work experience initiatives at the hospital were also awarded a special mention.

Anne beat off stiff competition to take home the accolade, including fellow Serco colleague Mike Mackay, Director for Healthcare Centre of Excellence who was also a finalist. Serco’s team at Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire were also shortlisted in the ‘FM Team of the Year’ category.

Anne, who lives in nearby Polmont, commented: “I’m thrilled to have received such a prestigious award and to know that my team and I are making such progress in healthcare facilities management.”

Ian Crichton, Serco’s Managing Director for Health added: “I’m very proud of Anne and delighted that her determination to continually improve the food on offer to patients, visitors and employees at Forth Valley Royal Hospital has been recognised by the industry. We all know just how important food is to patient recovery and we take great pride in the fact that 100 per cent of our fresh produce is sourced within 50 miles of Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

“Serco represented a quarter of all the finalists in the BIFM Scotland Awards 2016, which I think speaks volumes.  My congratulations go to everyone for their hard work in supporting our NHS partners so successfully and making such a positive contribution to the healthcare environment in Scotland.”

The winners were announced at the BIFM’s Gala Ball on Saturday 7 May at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
