Serco appoints Paul Gaskin HR Director, UK and Europe

Serco, the international services company, has appointed Paul Gaskin as HR Director for the UK and Europe Division.

The UK and Europe Division was established in 2017 and employs 24,000 people across five sectors; Justice and Immigration, Health, Transport, Defence and Citizen Services.  The total number of employees rises to 33,000 when the company’s Joint Ventures in Transport and Defence are included. 

Paul reports directly to Kevin Craven, Chief Executive Officer, UK and Europe, who is responsible for leading the £1.5bn business and he is a member of the Divisional Executive Committee.

Commenting on his appointment Paul said: “I will be working closely with Kevin Craven to create a highly performing leadership cadre of 250 leaders.    We will also be putting Diversity and Inclusion at the front and centre of our people agenda. We must increase diversity across our leadership and management population in order to stimulate more radical and winning solutions for our government customer and the communities we serve.” 

Paul joined Serco in 2001 and has held a number of leadership roles in the UK as well as living and working in India, Hong Kong and the Middle East. During his time in Serco Paul has played a major role in the delivery of some of Serco’s largest bids, transitions and acquisitions.  He has been part of the Divisional Executive Management teams in three out of the four regions where Serco operates. 

Paul began his career as an Electronics and Communications Engineer working on missile systems for BAE Systems, moving into Software and Systems Engineering, IT, Manufacturing and HR. Prior to joining Serco, he worked for PwC, leading the outsourcing of HR services for Nortel Networks and building a multi-lingual, shared service centre in London to deliver HR services to 19 countries across Europe. 

Paul has a Higher National Diploma in Electronics and Communications, a BA Degree (OU) a Fellowship in Manufacturing Engineering, Cranfield University and is a Fellow of the CIPD. Paul is married with two children he is passionate about sport and is currently writing a personal development book.
