With more than 20 years’ experience of providing vital services to communities and government across Scotland, Serco has become a reliable partner - trusted to care for people and infrastructure in the cities and some of the most remote parts of the country.
Today, the focus is on delivering added value in Scotland. With 11 major operations currently employing nearly 3,000 people across health, transport, justice, immigration, defence and housing, we have earned a reputation for delivering high quality services at the best possible value for money. We are investing in the future of Scotland and developing partnerships, intended to grow over the next 20 years.
One of our key aims is to recruit our people as close to our operations as possible, so the NorthLink Ferries offices are based in Aberdeen and Stromness, Orkney and the Caledonian Sleeper Guest Services Centre is located in Inverness City Centre. This policy has lead to the creation of 150 permanent, local positions since 2008.
In addition, Serco Scotland provide access to work experience and Apprenticeships in a variety of skill-sets and industries including IT, Healthcare, Maritime and Hospitality – leading to permanent employment - as well as employability training for those with learning difficulties and supporting local social enterprise.
As well as creating employment opportunities, we are continuously investing in our current workforce by providing training opportunities; achieving silver awards in ‘Investors in People’ and gold awards in ‘Scottish Healthy Working Lives’. As part of this focus, a variety of health promotion initiatives are aimed at educating staff, visitors, customers and passengers as well as being extended into local communities.
Not only do we invest in our employees, our determination to integrate within the communities in which we operate has ensured full support of charities and organisations and businesses unique to our contract locations across Scotland.
