ACCESS Glasgow

 is the City Council’s corporate centre of excellence, delivering ICT, property services and more efficient ways of working.

ACCESS specialise in ICT and Property services, working in partnership with Glasgow City Council to deliver core services to the people of the city.

Serco is committed to building genuine partnerships that deliver better services and established a joint venture with Glasgow City Council in 2008 to manage, rationalise and upgrade the local authority’s ICT and property system, working together under a 10-year contract.

Providing vital services across Glasgow for a population of 600,000 people, 80,000 school pupils and over 10,000 office workers, ACCESS is a key partnership that delivers for the people of Glasgow, as well as savings of £73 million for Glasgow City Council over the lifetime of the contract.

We wanted the structure to be transparent and developed a robust system of joint governance to enable fast, flexible and accountable decision-making.  To date we have enabled further savings of some £12million per annum through transformation including a significant office rationalisation programme which reduced the Council’s city centre footprint from 1 million to 400,000 sq ft and the introduction of self-service solutions for HR and Payroll services.

Our commitment to innovation and efficiency has led to the introduction of mobile working solutions for over 2,500 staff. Within ACCESS our Business Improvement team has supported the training of 35 green belts and yellow belts and our commitment to training and developing our young people awarded us Investors in Young People in December 2014, being the first technology company in the UK to achieve this award.  We subsequently achieved silver accreditation in ‘Investors in People’ in April 2015.
