A place where you belong

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that proudly celebrates the perspectives and backgrounds that each of our employees bring to work every day. Diversity, equity and inclusion at Serco is based on a culture where every voice is heard and every employee feels valued. Working together as one team, we can enhance the experience of our people and teams, improve the value of our solutions to better serve the missions of our customers, and make a difference in our world.

Our workplace culture is one that embraces diversity and fosters equity, respect, and belonging for every individual.

Employee networks

Our employee networks help our employees discover their place in our world by providing networking, collaboration, learning and development opportunities, and provide a support channel for employee interests through communities that help create a sense of belonging.

Ensure Serco is a great place to work for everyone no matter their race, ethnicity, culture and background.

Partnerships and Achievements

At Serco we recognise that partnerships, with leading organisations who provide both resources and expertise, support us to continuously improve and evolve our approach to colleagues’ inclusion and experience.

Inclusive Employers

In 2017 we joined Inclusive Employers, the UK’s first and leading membership organisation for employers looking to build inclusive workplaces. Serco was acknowledged with Gold status in recognition of the progress made and the programs in place to support inclusion.

Disability Confident Leader

We’re a Disability Confident Leader employer and are committed to equal opportunities. This is the highest level of disability confidence in the UK and demonstrates we have been assessed by a third party who has recognised our ability to recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities.

In 2017 we began our partnership with everywoman, one of the world’s largest network and learning platform for women and men in business. This partnership gives all colleagues access to an online portal where they can find a wealth of personal development tools.

The Valuable 500

The Valuable 500’s mission is to use the power of business to drive lasting change for the 1.3b people around the world, living with a disability. At Serco, we are committed to removing barriers and changing perceptions about disabilities, impairments and health conditions.  We celebrate uniqueness and ensure that every employee is recognised for their performance and potential.

PurpleSpace is the world’s only networking and professional development hub for disabled employees, network and resource group leaders and allies from all sectors and trades. Their mission is: "To make it easier for employees to navigate the experience of ill health, disability or the experience of an accident or injury, at the same time as flourishing at work."

Business in the Community

Business in the Community are leading a movement to create a fair and sustainable world in which to live and work. The findings of  BITC’s Race at Work 2018: The Scorecard Report led to the creation of the Race at Work Charter detailing five calls to action for organisations committed to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace.

Women in Defence Charter

In 2019, Serco signed the Women in Defence Charter, a pledge for gender balance across our business. We are committing to be the very best at driving diversity and inclusion within our organisation and providing fair opportunities for women to succeed at all levels.

Armed Forces Covenant

We were one of the first companies to publicly commit to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013, and currently hold a Gold Award. The aim of this is to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community should face disadvantage in the position of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen.

Black Talent Awards

The Evenfields Black Talent Awards recognises and celebrates Black Talent in the UK. This means celebrating the outstanding performance and achievements of Black professionals, including both employees and employers. We are proud to have been Headline Sponsors for the Black Talent Awards since it's creation in 2022.
