HMP Fosse Way is an innovative new facility built on the site of the old HMP Glen Parva. Designed with input from psychologists, prisoners spend their time learning new skills, getting trained in vital industries, and benefiting from a range of services – all to reduce their risk of reoffending, prepare them for release, and equip them with skills required in the community.

Awarded to Serco by the UK Ministry of Justice, this Category C resettlement prison opened in 2023, housing around 1,700 prisoners. As one of the newest ‘smart’ prisons in Britain, HMP Fosse Way utilises the latest designs and innovations to protect the public and rehabilitate offenders. It’s also the greenest prison ever constructed in the UK, thanks to greener fuels, renewable energy and electric construction machinery.

We’re hiring for a wide range of roles

To support the expansion of HMP Fosse Way, we’re looking for people who are inspired to make a difference. Roles include:

  • Prison Officers
  • Operations Support Officers
  • Custodial Operations Managers
  • Tutors (to deliver and supervise training in industrial skills)
  • Prison Offender Managers
  • Offending Behaviour Programme Facilitators
  • Security Officers, PE Instructors, Chaplains, Chefs, Administration staff, and more

Spotlight on: Prison Officers

Discover a role where your contribution makes a huge impact. You'll help give people in prison daily structure, act as a role model to encourage positive choices, and ensure that they're supported during their rehabilitation journey.

Your daily duties could include:

  • Supervising prisoners in all aspects of wing-based activity
  • Encouraging prisoners to go to work or complete the jobs they have within the prison
  • Serving food and effectively managing people at risk of self-harm
  • Carrying out operational activities such as headcounts, searches, supervision, security checks and admistration

Once you've passed the selection and vetting process, you'll attend an eight-week Initial Training Course (ITC) at HMP Fosse Way. This will provide high-quality training, where you'll complete a Diploma in Custodial Care, undergo Control and Restraint Training, and shadow experienced Prison Officers on shift to give you a real taste of life on the job.
