National Apprenticeship Week 2020 takes place 3 to 9 February 2020, bringing together the apprenticeship community to celebrate the impact apprenticeships can have on individuals and their employers.

The theme for NAW 2020 is #LookBeyond. One of the most common misconceptions about apprenticeships is still that apprentices are ‘just employed to make the tea’. Apprenticeships at Serco are about so much more.

Meet some of our amazing #SercoApprentices

Helen - Business Administration

Fleet local Helen Miller joined Serco as a Business Administration apprentice in August 2019. Six months into an 18-month programme at the Woking Council Environmental Services contract, Helen is already making an impact. 

Matthew - Operations Manager apprenticeship

Matthew Edwards joined Serco as a Fleet Administrator in 2013, managing vehicles used in contract operations. As part of his ongoing professional development Matt completed an Operations Manager Apprenticeship (OMA) in 2018 and 2019.

Emma - Chartered Manager Degree apprenticeship

Emma Green joined Serco as a Project Support Apprentice in September 2015. During her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Emma worked on a range of projects which focused on areas such as legal compliance, ethics and Serco’s GDPR programme.

Ryan - Maritime Services Apprenticeship

In 2016 Serco pledged to increase the number of apprentices in order to maximise the full potential of investing in the annual Apprentice Levy and to upskill existing employees. One employee who knows exactly what it is like to be on an apprenticeship scheme is Ryan Wilkie.

Heidi - Chartered Manager Degree apprenticeship

Heidi Salczynski is a fantastic example of how apprenticeships can support personal development alongside a full-time job. After joining Serco in July 2016, Heidi completed a Business Administration apprenticeship. Three years later, Heidi is halfway through her second apprenticeship programme, which will see her graduate with a business degree.
