Everyone in ProServ contributes to transformational projects that help our clients deliver great public services. And in doing so you’ll be part of one of our five collaborative and supportive teams:
Project Management
About Project Management:
As a Project Manager you’ll be assigned to one or more projects delivering modern technologies that enable our customers to work in an agile manner – whilst using industry best practice waterfall, Agile and DevOps methodologies.
We are always on the lookout for generalist Business, Digital and IT Transformation Project Managers who have integrity and a natural curiosity – accompanied with a drive to make a difference within the communities we support.
Project Managers:
As a Project Manager you’ll have full responsibility for the project lifecycle, including the definition, approach, facilitation, and its satisfactory completion. Along the way you’ll ensure that the appropriate governance, quality controls, and processes are applied where necessary.
You’ll also map project stakeholders and use negotiating and influencing skills to effectively manage internal and client stakeholder relationships, consistent with the project management methodology in use (e.g. Prince 2, Agile, etc).
As a Senior Project Manager you’ll also provide mentoring and guidance to other Project Managers, helping to ensure high delivery and quality standards across the team.
What you need to do the job:
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have prior Project Management experience, with knowledge of techniques and approaches and in holding one or more industry standard qualifications such as Prince 2, MoP, MSP, APMP, PMI APM, MoR, or Agile.
All our Project Managers need to have a good level of commercial and risk awareness too, with the ability to easily identify business issues and apply appropriate risk and financial management techniques to mitigate them.
Finally, you’ll have a proven ability to manage and deliver multiple project/programme work streams within budget and time constraints – all whilst liaising with, developing, and maintaining meaningful working relationships with customers, suppliers and other client teams.

Programme Management
About Programme Management:
As a ProServ Programme Manager you’ll be responsible for delivering change to our clients – along with all the projects and interdependencies that this involves.
Programme Managers:
As one of our Programme Managers we’ll look to you to manage the overall integrity and coherence of programmes. You will develop and maintain the programme environment to support each individual project within it - ensuring that there is a proper allocation of common resources and skills within them.
Throughout the process you’ll keep one eye firmly on any risks and issues arising, ensuring that change programme benefits can be realised and that our teams can continue to deliver. On larger and more complex programmes, this may also involve an extended team that includes Risk, Communications, and/or Benefits Managers.
What you need to do the job:
As a ProServ Programme Manager you’ll need to have the necessary experience and gravitas to take on the responsibilities associated with the role. This includes the exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to maintain your Programme ‘community’, and the knowledge and techniques needed to plan, monitor and control Programmes.
You will have a good understanding of procurement processes including negotiation with third parties – accompanied with programme and project management methods including MSP and PRINCE2.
Career Development:
Within Programme Management there is a clear promotion pathway, modelled by achieving the relevant level of experience, as detailed within the career framework. The framework is tailored to ensure you can develop yourself as a programme manager via a constructive methodology. Within the whole of the PPM practice we encourage ownership of your assignments, whilst supporting the team, by providing the means for them to voice their ideas and opinions from their experience, to help develop individual skills within the team.
Project Management Office (PMO)
About Project Management Office:
At ProServ, we have a Professional PMO designed to support, govern, and facilitate the delivery of Projects and Programmes,
Our PMO provides an excellent Programme Management Office service to our internal Serco business and our external contracted clients for Local Government Partnerships. This means we provide services to a variety of clients ranging from a dedicated PMO on a Programme or a PMO covering a number of projects per contract.
The PMO is the driving force behind the success of our Projects and Programmes.
PMO's:
As a part of our PMO team, you’ll create and maintain project documentation and best practices, track metrics, and offer training to our wider Project and Programme teams – helping us move towards a Target Operating Model across our functions.
You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of people and teams, with involvement in strategy, governance, new business, and pipeline meetings. In short, you’ll engage with large parts of our business as you help us standardise and improve efficiency across our organisation.
This is a role to make your own.
What you need to do the job:
To be successful in this role you’ll need to be an organised and articulate, with a keen eye for detail. You’ll be confident communicating with all areas of the business including senior stakeholders.
We use a range of MS Software to support our projects so you’ll be comfortable using Office 365 applications such as Power BI and SharePoint. Finally, you’ll be able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team.

We will also support you to find and develop a niche you are skilled in to help you progress into a subject matter expert – even if this is outside of the PMO team.
Architecture
About Architecture:
The Architecture team support transformation, transition and mobilisation phases of projects, providing thought leadership and governance. Working in close collaboration with the wider Serco group means we get to design solutions incorporating a wide blend of technologies.
We strive to ensure solutions enable business capability, supporting change securely whilst operating within financial targets for a wide variety of existing clients and new opportunities.
Architects:
As one of our Architects you’ll operate at a senior customer and supplier level and be responsible for end-to-end solution and service design, and delivery – acting as the as the primary point of reference for all aspects of the solution across the full lifecycle.
Using your excellent knowledge of IT industry trends and directions you will engage with senior stakeholders to shape and influence the organisation’s solution to provide expertise in one or more business and/or technical domains. You’ll also lead on risk assessment, and negotiation on issues such as cost, quality and timescales.
What you need to do the job:
To be successful in this role, you will possess knowledge and expertise in the development and deployment of medium to large-scaled solutions, with particular emphasis on best practice techniques to solving transition and transformation problems, in alignment with industry recognised frameworks.

DevOps
About DevOps:
In DevOps we lead on the development and delivery of solutions to the business, ranging from ‘Low Code’ automations to full scale CRM and Workflow management solutions. As experts in these products, we support the transformation of our business as a well as contributing to new business opportunities through solution design in new bids and tenders - and then delivering on this as we win new contracts.
DevOps:
In DevOps you’ll engage with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and deliver a range of business solutions and applications. Your engagement will often begin at the solutioning stage, enabling you to influence elements of design, requirement gathering, and functionality, through to the start of that project. The transformation through delivery of innovative automations, CRM and Workflow Management solutions is your goal.
What you need to do the job:
You will need to be familiar with the software development cycle. complimented with good solutioning and problem-solving skills. Communication is key as you will engage with a variety of stakeholders, ranging from service users, clients, vendors, internal IT functions, and the senior management team, to update, inform, question and enable the success delivery. You’ll be working with a range of technologies from Low Code tools through to market leading automation platforms, so broad experience of these technologies would beneficial.
Career Development:
There are clear progression paths in DevOps starting with Low Code Developers through to DevOps Leads, supported by a structured skills matrix to identify areas to develop. Within the team we also have strong culture of supporting each other using our collective strengths and expertise to benefit all.
Business Analysis
About business Analysis:
The Business Analysis team work on a range of different IT and Transformation projects, for a range of external and internal clients. The ProServ Business Analysis team are also branching out into Operational Excellence work and beginning to undertake OE Diagnostics for different areas of the business.
Business Analysts:
The Business Analysis team comprises of three defined roles, Business Analyst II, Business Analyst I and Senior Business Analyst. These roles range from entry-level with the opportunity to learn and develop the skills needed to become a business analyst, to a Senior BA role that requires leadership and project management skillsets. As a member of the Business Analyst team, you’ll work on our individual projects -supported by a team committed to your development through mentoring and coaching.
What you need to do the job:
To be successful in this role, you will be a natural problem solver with the ability to work under pressure. You will have an analytical approach to your work – thinking critically before acting.
Furthermore, you will have good IT skills and be comfortable with analysing data to identify areas to develop.
Career Developement:
As a Business analyst within ProServ, you are given the opportunity to undertake professional development, achieve Business Analyst qualifications including accreditation to the British Computer Society and undertake Yellow Belt training around the LEAN and Six Sigma methodology. There are opportunities to progress through the team to a Senior Business Analyst role.
