Business Development:

Our Business Development team provides best practice Sales and opportunity development across all our business sectors. Our focus is on early engagement with our clients and selected markets, ensuring we can appropriately shape new opportunities, bringing value for our customers and sustainable growth for Serco. We have a market leading Sales practice, which provides a consistent, high quality approach to business development across all our sectors.  

We do this with proven processes and tools, and by undertaking deep analysis on key deals to ensure we are well positioned to win new business. We’re also a diverse team that embraces change, supports each other, and works in a fast paced and rapidly changing customer environment.  

Our core roles:

Business Development Manager:

Our BDM’s look after the progression and qualification of new business opportunities at their earliest stages within one or a variety of sectors. Using their positive and customer focused approach they ensure these opportunities are well understood, qualified, and aligned with our business strategy - increasing the chances of high-quality outcomes for our customers.   

Principal Business Development Lead:

Assuming responsibility for the progression and qualification of a portfolio of new business opportunities, they work with both the customer and business unit leads to understand their requirements, and then work with their teams to evolve these from prospect through to Gate 2 - allocating suitable resources to achieve that.  

 

Bid Management:

Bid Management is a dynamic and flexible team that ensures all qualified bids are delivered in an impactful, timely, and professional way. Working closely with Business Development and the Operational Businesses, the Bid Management team own and execute strategic deals from Gate 3 to Gate 5.  

The Bidding function combines expert bid strategy development and deployment, robust and focussed bid management and co-ordination, specialist writing and proposal production capabilities. Together, they form a world class “bidding engine” that delivers winning proposals and bids, which then transition into successful contracts.   

The team includes a strong mix of experienced bidding professionals with backgrounds in a range of sectors and delivery markets, and team members who are developing and growing their careers in the Bidding world through structured training and coaching. 

Our core roles:

Bid Writer: 

Our Bid Writers provide professional and high-quality bid writing support for bids large and small. Working closely with the rest of the Bid Management Team - and after thoroughly understanding the proposed solutions – they create quality responses that meet the clients brief whilst being engaging and visually arresting. This will include written responses, storyboards, and other bidding collateral.  

Bid Manager:

They look after the progression and qualification of new business opportunities after they have been identified by our Business Development team. Using their technical bid management skills, they ensure these opportunities are well understood, qualified, and aligned with our business strategy - increasing our chances of success, of high-quality outcomes for our customers, and of a deal that is capable of profitable execution. 

Principal Bid Lead:

Assuming responsibility for the development of a portfolio of compelling and well qualified bid opportunities, they work with both the customer and business unit leads to understand and deliver solutions and proposals that address and enhance their requirements, working with their teams to evolve these from Gate 3 to Gate 5 - allocating suitable resources to achieve that.
