Serco has today launched the Waste Collection Guarantee (WCG) scheme to residents served by Canterbury City Council. Under this innovative scheme, whenever it misses a bin collection, Serco has committed to donate the cost of the collection to one of three specially selected charitable projects that were announced in October: Umbrella Centre of Herne Bay and Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre both of which are mental health and wellbeing charities, together with homelessness charity Porchlight. All three charities are set to receive £5,000 p.a. for the next two years and this donation will be topped up if Serco misses any bin collections.

Serco Group plc (Serco), the international service company, today announces that it has signed an extension to its contract with the Dubai Government Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to continue to operate and maintain the Dubai Metro. The five-year extension which will run to September 2019 is valued at approximately £355m, with an opportunity to extend for a further two years to 2021.

Serco, the international services company, has been awarded the contract to partner with Punjab State power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), a public sector body responsible for electricity generation and distribution in the state of Punjab. PSPCL has selected Serco to operate and maintain the centralised call centre, distributed walk-in customer relationship centres and nodal complaint/fault control centres. The contract is to provide over 550 operational people distributed across 47 different towns of Punjab and centralised control centre at Ludhiana. The initial period of contract is 3 years, further extendable by 2 years.
