Serco celebrates Hidden Heroes Day

On 29 of September, prisons across the UK celebrated Hidden Heroes Day. Seven contracts across Serco’s Justice business took part, including HMPs Doncaster, Kilmarnock, Lowdham Grange, Dovegate, Ashfield, Thameside and the Prison Escort Custodial Service (PECS).

The aim of the day was to honour our frontline staff for their continued service, under often very challenging conditions, both internally and by the wider public. It is also an opportunity to raise public awareness about their role. Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Services (HMPPS) strongly supported the day and celebrated it both nationally and at local level.

This event is the brainchild of The Butler Trust, an organisation that recognises, celebrates, develops and disseminates outstanding work and best practice across UK prisons, probation and youth justice. Patrons of The Butler Trust include HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, and the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The celebrating Serco establishments posted images of the day being shown through their social media channels using the hashtag #HiddenHeroesDay and shared by The Butler Trust and other organisations who we work with.
