What is the Correctional Case Officer Upskilling Program?

The Correctional Case Officer Upskilling program has been created to support and upskill potential applicants who would like to consider a career with Serco as a Correctional Case Officer.

The program provides an opportunity for applicants to be assessed and be provided with an opportunity to further upskill in areas where they did not successfully meet the job requirements.

High-level support will be provided through your Job Active Provider in the areas identified as not meeting the minimum requirements to assist you developing your skills prior to being reassessed for the Correctional Case Officer position.

Eligibility for the Program

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Correctional Case Officers play an integral role not only supporting the rehabilitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inmates but also in creating a sense of belonging and connectiveness through their culture. 

Anyone wishing to participate in the Correctional Case Officer Upskilling Program will be subject to the following criteria:

  • Confirmation of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • Reside within Clarence Valley, North Coast, Coffs Coast and Northern Rivers regions
  • Registered with a Job Active Provider*

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are not registered with a Job Active Provider and who are active job seekers may still be able to participate in the program. For further information contact [email protected]

The role of correctional staff is multi-faceted, providing safe and secure custody to those entrusted into our care, protecting the community and reducing reoffending.

Corrections is fundamentally a people profession, transforming lives and the wider community, by not only the supervision of individuals, but also through interpersonal contact, positive relationships, role modelling, mentorship and support of the behavioural change process toward a crime-free life.

Anyone wishing to participate in the Correctional Case Officer Upskilling Program will be subject to the following criteria:

  • Reside within Clarence Valley, North Coast, Coffs Coast and Northern Rivers regions
  • Registered with a Job Active Provider*

*Job Active Providers – Nortec, Tursa Employment & Training (Tursa) and Enterprise & Training Company Ltd (ETC) located across the Clarence Valley, North Coast, Coffs Coast and Northern Rivers regions of NSW.

How to Apply  

The upskilling program is currently on hold. 

Once the program recommences, simply click the appropriate 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of this page to create a personal profile and lodge your formal application. 

Once your application has been accepted you will receive a confirmation email that your application has been registered. 

Participation and or acceptance into the program does not automatically entitle job applicants/participants to an Offer of Employment and or Formal Job Offer.  All applicants will be assessed in accordance with the recruitment standards and requirements to determine suitability for the role as a Correctional Case Officer.
