The MRAP vehicles are designed to protect U.S. warfighters from Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks and ambushes.

The contract was awarded under the U.S. Navy's SPAWAR Global C4ISR Installation ID/IQ contract vehicle. Serco provides C4ISR installations for SPAWAR and other federal agencies including the Air Force, Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection and port authorities.
