Serco Awarded New $21 Million Contract To Deliver Safety Service Patrol Support for Texas Department of Transportation

Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services, announced today that the Company has been awarded a new contract to provide Safety Service Patrol support for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Austin District. The contract has a three-year base period valued at $10.5 million and three one-year option periods. The total value is $21.3 million if all options are exercised.
Under this new contract, Serco will manage the Safety Service Patrol (SSP) services delivered across 310 miles of roadway in Austin, Texas. The Company’s efforts under this contract will help minimize incident duration and improve driver safety during traffic incidents. Serco will utilize a fleet of 24 vehicles to provide roadside support to assist with all incidents impacting the patrolled interstate highways. The number of vehicles could expand up to 52 vehicles if TxDOT elects to expand route coverage within the contracted roadways.

Serco was recently awarded another contract with TxDOT to manage freeway operations in Austin’s Combined Transportation, Emergency & Communications Center. Serco’s transportation division delivers Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) services, Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations, rail operations & maintenance, fleet management and parking enforcement services throughout the country.
