Published: 16 Dec 2022

Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, engineering, and management services, announced today that the Company was one of eight prime contractors awarded an Indefinite Delivery – Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services Full Deployment Production (CANES FD).  The eight prime contractors will compete on task orders issued under this 10-year, $4 billion ceiling value contract.

Under the contract, Serco will be producing build to print CANES systems for installation and deployment onto various surface ship and submarine platforms.

Serco has sourced, assembled, loaded, configured, and performed factory acceptance testing on 85 CANES system production units and 1,534 racks for ships and submarines at its 31,000–square foot Serco Warehouse and Integration Facility (SWIF) on the previous contract and will continue that work on this new contract.

CANES is the Navy's Program of Record (POR) that consolidates and replaces existing afloat C4ISR networks providing the necessary infrastructure for applications, systems, and services to operate in the tactical domain. The primary goals of the CANES program are to: 1) Provide a secure afloat network required for Naval and Joint Operations; 2) Consolidate and reduce the number of afloat networks through the use of Common Computing Environment (CCE) and mature cross domain technologies; 3) Reduce the infrastructure footprint and associated Logistics, Sustainment, and Training costs; and 4) Increase reliability, security, interoperability and application hosting to meet current and projected war fighter requirements.
