Serco Honored as a VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer for 3rd Year in a Row

Published: 18 Apr 2023

Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, engineering, and management services, announced today that the Company has earned the designation VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer, as part of the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards. This marks the third year in a row that Serco has earned this designation. The award recognizes Serco’s continued commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and supporting veteran employees, military spouses and others in the military-connected community.

As one of the most objective and comprehensive evaluation of veteran employers, the VETS Indexes Employer Awards program has set a new standard in veteran employment data.  The in-depth survey and recognition program analyzes employers’ policies, practices, and outcomes in detail, across the following 5 categories:

  • Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
  • Veteran employee development and retention
  • Veteran-inclusive policies and culture
  • Support for members of the National Guard and Reserves
  • Military spouse/family support

Serco was recognized for the organizations commitment to hiring service members, veterans, and military spouses to support them in their next professional chapter. We employ over 9,000 employees across North America, of which 22% of our workforce are veterans, reservists, or military spouses. This award is championed by our veteran-focused Employee Resource Group (ERG), SercoVets, which provides a forum for Serco employees who are veterans, military spouses, and allies to feel a sense of community and camaraderie among their peers. SercoVets offers employees activities, transition support, professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities.

"Our commitment to supporting our Veterans and military-connected community is a fundamental part of our Serco culture, and we are honored to be recognized for our efforts," said Kelly McBride, Vice President of Serco’s Consultancy+ Business Group and Executive Sponsor of SercoVets. "SercoVets is a powerful network to connect with people who share a similar experience, providing initiatives, transition support, professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We are proud to annually support non-profit efforts including Toys for Tots, Hearts for Heroes, Fisher House Foundation, Wreaths Across America, and multiple local initiatives. We will continue to prioritize the wellbeing and success of our Veterans and military-connected employees as we look forward to building upon this recognition in the future."

“Serco stands out from the pack as one of the best employers nationwide for veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses,” said George Altman, managing director of VETS Indexes.  “As more and more employers recognize the cutting-edge technical skills and soft skills veterans bring to the workplace, the race to attract military-connected talent gets increasingly competitive. The number of organizations participating in the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards more than doubled since last year – but even in this highly competitive environment, Serco distinguished itself as a leader among veteran employers and should be commended.”
