Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, engineering, and management services, announced today that the Company has been awarded re-compete contracts, valued at $70 million in total contract value, to continue providing Safety Service Patrol support for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the Austin, El Paso and San Antonio Districts.
TxDOT operates a free Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) patrol service program to clear minor crashes from area roadways and assist motorists in need. Serco has worked on this program, around the clock, since 2017. HERO operators are often the first to arrive at the scene of an incident and assist motorists to safely restore roadways to peak traffic capacity.
"Serco is proud of the opportunity to continue supporting the Texas Department of Transportation's top priority of roadside safety and incident management," said Tom Watson, Serco's Chief Executive Officer. "Our Transportation teams are committed to keeping the roads safe and flowing by delivering top-notch services for our customer and the citizens of Texas."
Additionally, Serco provides incident management and motorist assistance services to Louisiana Department of Transportation. Along with roadside safety services, Serco delivers Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) services across North America including Traffic Management Center operation, as well as Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations and fleet management.
