Serco Examines Government Efficiency on New Podcast Episode

Published: 19 Feb 2025

The latest episode of Serco Tech and Innovation Podcast for 2025, features Al Moseley, Director of Consultancy+ at Serco in North America. Together with hosts Don Styer, Serco’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Michael Arce, Serco’s External Communications Manager, we delve into the critical topic of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) preparedness.

"When we talk about government efficiency, we hear a lot about positions or labor, which is a significant portion of the federal budget, but it also extends to resources, facilities, and technology," says Styer. The episode explores the design and purpose of DOGE to advise the President on steps to streamline the Federal Government by reducing inefficiencies, cutting wasteful spending, and restructuring federal agencies.

When meeting with customers, "most of the questions we're hearing are related to how should they respond to these Executive Orders in an informed way," added Moseley. These types of discussion are important and need to expand beyond the concept of just having certainty of the data, and into really understanding what your people do. "What resources are they driven by? Understanding these areas allow decision-makers to articulate the risk of any position not being filled or being eliminated, how these gaps impact mission requirements. A consistent asset and facility management strategy removes much of the uncertainty and the turmoil that's impacting our customers," concluded Moseley.
