Serco Named to WayUp’s Top 100 Internship Program List
Published: 19 Aug 2021
Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services, has been named to the 2021 Top 100 Internship Program list by WayUp, an HR technology company that works with businesses to help them recruit early-career candidates. WayUp’s Top 100 Internship Programs list identifies companies that demonstrate best practices around offering students professional experiences through internships that provide them with applicable skills for their future careers. To be considered for this recognition, Serco, along with hundreds of other companies, submitted data and information showcasing key elements of accredited intern programs that were reviewed by a panel of judges. WayUp also invited the general public to cast votes for participating companies. The Serco Training & Experience Program (STEP) emerged as one of the stand-out programs following the formal review and judging.
“We are so proud for Serco’s Internship Program to receive this accolade. It is a direct reflection of the efforts made by our leadership team all the way through the managers and mentors who have supported our intern cohorts over the years. And it doesn’t stop here - we look forward to the program’s continued growth and innovation in the years to come,” said Nicole Caliri, Manager of Talent & Organizational Development and leader of STEP at Serco.
Over the past three years, Serco has welcomed business, technical, and engineering interns to support both internal and customer-facing teams. The accredited 11-week summer internship program offers a three-tiered approach to learning and professional development: “Learn,” “Support,” and “Lead.” Each tier focused on fostering and developing skillsets to enable interns to successfully transition to a full-time career. “82% of the STEP interns who are ready for full-time employment receive offers at Serco. That is something special and what I believe sets us apart from other internship programs,” said David Dacquino, Chairman & CEO of Inc, and executive sponsor of STEP.
In addition to formal learning and development sessions, STEP offers special project opportunities for interns to build diverse skillsets and strengths, including an Executive Challenge project where interns work in teams and collaborate with mentors to solve high-visibility challenges identified by members of the Serco Senior Leadership Team. At the end of the summer, intern teams present their research, analysis, and insights to the entire Executive Team and intern managers.
