Providing technical and management expertise to ship owners during ship acquisition projects is a core strength of Serco’s.
We have deep industry experience and provide Owner’s Expert services, including:

Reviewing and assessing Preliminary Design deliverables

Developing procurement documentation such as SOW’s, RFI’s, RFP’s and contracts and managing a procurement process

Reviewing and assessing shipyard’s Detail Design deliverables

Overseeing construction and providing construction management

Supporting the Owner during the warranty period.
Serco has the technical capability to support the following areas with our knowledge and expertise:

Developing complete design solutions for Owners to provide to shipyards

Developing complete specification packages for Owners backed up by a point design or preliminary design for the shipyard’s RFP package including the shipyard SOW, list of deliverables and evaluation criteria

Reviewing shipyard designs and specification packages for compliance with the Owner’s requirements and specifications

Reviewing the shipyard’s design in each area to be compliant with specifications

Reviewing Classification Society and regulatory body comments

Resolving discrepancies between owner’s requirements and Class/Regulatory Body comments

Providing oversight of ship construction, change orders and providing contract administration services

Supporting the warranty period.
Serco Canada Marine also serves as Owner’s Expert and Oversight for the Wolfe Island and Amherst Island ferries. These will be the first fully electric ferries in North America.
