Serco continues to support the IRIDE space programme with new framework contract Cyber Italy Phase-2

Published: 15 Jul 2024

Serco Europe, a space industry leader with over 40 years’ experience in supporting the space sector, has won the framework contract for Cyber Italy Phase-2. Following the completion of the initial 12-month demonstration phase, Serco will continue to develop and operationalise the IRIDE Cyber Italy framework.

The IRIDE space programme, led by the Italian Government and implemented by the European Space Agency with the support of the Italian Space Agency, is one of the most ambitious Earth Observation programmes in Europe. It will use advanced observation techniques to cater to various institutions, start-ups, and national industrial entities. The IRIDE programme will serve public administrations across multiple domains, including civil protection, safeguarding coasts, monitoring critical infrastructure, and weather conditions.

The main objective of the Cyber Italy framework is to deploy an enabling platform that provides Digital Twins developers with data and models complemented by evidence-based policy and decision-making tools, custom applications, and ICT services, all based on an open, flexible, scalable, and evolvable secure cloud-based architecture.

Guido Vingione, Business Development Director for Space, said: "Acting as an enabling platform, the Cyber Italy framework has been designed to serve a wide range of potential Digital Twin operational scenarios, managing heterogeneous data sets, requiring different services for data processing and simulations, and also requiring tools to orchestrate the different access to resources. The platform, once fully operational, will act as the entry point for all IRIDE Digital Twin developers and will interact with other IRIDE services to publish the final outcomes of the Digital Twins for all IRIDE eligible users’ access."

Serco, impacting a better future.
