The past four months have been buzzing for our Space teams. From Darmstadt to Vienna, Rome to Montreal, we had the opportunity to attend multiple important events, give multiple presentations, connect with partners and clients, and showcase the plethora of offerings of Serco within the ever-evolving European space landscape. Here’s an overview of the events we attended between February and June 2025.
European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) Network Operations Center (NOC) Team Visit
What: Leadership walk‑through of our 24/7 Network Operations Centre that safeguards ESA’s ESTRACK ground‑station network, ESA’s Tracking Station Network (ESTRACK), as well as the underlying Mission Operations Infrastructure Information Technology (MOI-IT) and Operations Control Centres (OCC). The visit included a real‑time demonstration of anomaly‑response dashboards and the planning and scheduling office.

Farnborough International Space Show 2025
What: Two‑day B2B showcase for the New Space Economy. Our panel, ‘Beyond the Signal: Space Awareness, Weather & Critical Infrastructure’, explored cascading risks from solar storms and debris to terrestrial assets.
When: 19–20 March 2025
Where: Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, Farnborough, UK
Amar Vora, Head of Space Middle East was a panel speaker. The session highlighted the importance of enhanced coordination across the data-to-decision-making supply chain, emphasising how informed decision-making can strengthen resilience not only within the space sector but also across other industries that rely on space-enabled services and technologies.

Italian Space Agency (ASI) Workshop – Innovations & Emerging Technologies in Scientific Data Management for Space Missions
What: Technical workshop hosted by the Italian Space Agency focusing on next‑gen data platforms. Serco presented ‘ESA MAAP: The New Paradigm for Accessing & Processing Earth Observation Data’.
When: 12 March 2025
Where: ASI Headquarters, Rome, Italy
Discussion centred on cloud‑native processing, the ESA‑NASA Biomass initiative, and how the Advanced Data Access and Processing Services for Collaborative Earth Observation Ground Segment (ASCEND) contract is enabling collaborative science.

IRIDE System InfoDay
What: Programme information day showcasing Italy’s national Earth Observation constellation and downstream services. Serco unveiled air‑quality, fire damage assessment, and innovative digital twin applications.

European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025
What: World’s largest geoscience congress – 20,984 registrants, 18,934 onsite presentations.
When: 27 April – 2 May 2025
Where: Austria Center Vienna & Online, Vienna, Austria
Mathilde Morée, Space Sales Manager, met Earth‑system modellers and national meteorological agencies, showcasing Serco’s capabilities within Earth Observation.
Group on Earth Observations (GEO) - The Earth Talks
What: Five‑day gathering of the global Earth Observation community under the GEO banner.
When: 5 – 9 May 2025
Where: Convention Center Auditorium della Tecnica, Rome, Italy
Our team talked about how we are helping the French Paying Agency switch from the Data and Information Access Services (DIAS) to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE) to tap into Sentinel satellites and the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) products for Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) compliance. We also explored how AI can boost farming efficiency and help prepare for the impacts of climate change.

konaktiva Job Fair 2025
What: Three‑day early‑career fair linking students with employers in tech, space, and defence.
When: 6 – 8 May 2025
Where: Darmstadtium Science & Congress Centre, Darmstadt, Germany
Julia Höltje gave the presentation ‘Get off to a successful start: Tips and tricks for your CV and application’. She also led the career chat ‘The future of work: Four‑day workweek and remote jobs’. One‑to‑one follow‑up meetings were held to discuss recruitment for forthcoming ESA and EUMETSAT positions.

OVHcloud Summit 2025
What: Evening summit celebrating OVHcloud’s European innovation ecosystem. Serco was honoured as ‘PaaS Champion 2025.’
When: 20 May 2025
Where: Italy
The award recognises our secure high‑performance DestinE deployments running entirely on OVHcloud PaaS.
Guido Vingione, Andrea Tesseri, Cristiano De Vincenti, Najla Said, Serena Moretto and Calogero Dettori represented us at the event.

SpaceOps 2025
What: 18th International Conference on Space Operations — a week‑long forum where agencies, industry, and academia share best practice in spacecraft flight control, ground‑segment engineering, and mission planning.
When: 26 – 30 May 2025
Where: Palais des Congrès de Montréal, Montreal, Canada

The week‑long event reinforced Serco’s reputation for practical, data‑driven mission support and opened new collaboration channels for future LEO and de‑orbit operations.

Living Planet Symposium 2025
What: ESA’s flagship Earth Observation event, ‘From Observation to Climate Action & Sustainability for Earth.’
When: 23 – 27 June 2025
Where: Austria Center Vienna, Vienna, Austria
Across Booth D9 and multiple ESA stands, we ran DestinE demos, presented seven scientific posters, and live dashboards such as SentiBoard. During her tour of the exhibition, ESA’s Director of Earth Observation Programmes and Head of ESRIN, Simonetta Cheli, visited our stand and acknowledged Serco’s depth of mission‑operations expertise and the innovative tools we bring to Europe’s space ecosystem.
