IT Services

Serco provides a wide range of IT services to the European Institutions, including Information System support, managed IT support services, ICT configurations, support of Classified Information Services, IT Infrastructure and Maintenance, User Helpdesk and Data Centre Operations. We can provide custom-made services to address our clients’ specific challenges. 

IT support

European Commission

Serco provides Information System support, administration and service organisation to the European Commission, its executive agencies and pan-European Joint Research Centre.  This includes a staff of about 23,000 European Commission officials as well as external service providers who provide ancillary services allowing the legislative activities of the European Commission to be executed.

The European Commission is the EU's politically independent executive arm. It is responsible for drawing up proposals for new European legislation, and it implements the decisions of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.  

 

Council for the European Union

We provide a fully managed IT support service to the Council of the European Union supporting the workplace environment of all officials and the temporary infrastructure provided during European Summits. The Council of the European Union defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union and amends proposed legislation provided by the European Commission. The Council has about 3,500 officials and leads over 4,200 official meetings per year, all supported by our teams.

Single Resolution Board

Serco provides administration and support of information systems and ICT configurations for the Single Resolution Board which was created in 2015 to provide support to the European Central Bank and European Banking Authorities by establishing rules and procedures for banking resolutions and to promote EU-wide financial and economic stability. The Single Resolution Board is about 300 officials at this time and likely to grow again in the coming years.

The Single Resolution Board (SRB) is the new European Banking Union's resolution authority. Its mission is to ensure the orderly resolution of failing banks, with as little impact as possible on the real economy and public finances of EU countries.

European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN​)

Serco provides engineering support and maintenance for experiments, the accelerator (LHC) and cryogenic installations.​

CERN is one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research. ​Serco provides Desktop Support, first and second line support to over 6,000 highly technical users with diverse and complex IT requirements.

IT infrastructure and Operations

European External Action Services (EEAS)

Serco has been providing on-site Network Operations Centre support as a managed service since 2013. This includes the support of the Classified Information Services of the European External Action Service to the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The EEAS is the diplomatic service and the foreign and defence ministry of the European Union.

European Commission Directorate General for IT

Serco provides Network Intervention Services to DIGIT, the European Commission’s Directorate General for Information Technology. This includes the provision of Technicians and Service Desk staff supporting the physical network of the European Commission in Belgium and Luxembourg covering all buildings occupied by the European Commission in those locations.

European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations

Serco provides IT Infrastructure and Maintenance services to the European Commission’s DG ECHO, the European Commission’s department for overseas humanitarian aid and for civil protection. Serco supports the dispersed Infrastructure in 12 Regional offices and about 35 other Country or Sub-Country Offices across the world.

 

EUMESTAT Helpdesk and Data centre operation service

Serco provides the User Helpdesk and Data Centre Operations Service of the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), which plays a key role in enhancing the use of EUMETSAT data, products and data services. The main objective of the service is to ensure effective and user-driven service to support the provision of data, both real-time and offline, as well as to provide comprehensive technical information to support all forms of user enquiries relating both to current operational services and to future satellite programmes of EUMETSAT.

 

IT Development

European Institutions and agencies

Serco provides IT development services for the European Commission various Directorate Generals (DGs) as well as various Framework Contracts with DG Budget and DG Research, the Council of the European Union and subcontracts for the European Parliament and NATO.

We also have framework contracts for specific Geographical Information Systems (GIS) development services with the European Environment Agency (EEA) and EUROSTAT, the statistical office of the European Union.
