Serco has global expertise in the design, setting up, operation, and maintenance of heavy rail, metro, light rail, ferry, road traffic, and cycle hire schemes across the globe – from the turnkey operation of the Dubai Tram which is the first fully wireless system in the world, to redefining a luxury experience on the Scottish Caledonian Sleeper.
We are also the largest non-government operator of civilian air traffic control in the world and offer a range of airside fire and rescue services.

UK & Europe
Serco designs, operates and maintains heavy rail, light rail, passenger ferry, and cycle hire schemes in the UK & Europe – from the Scottish Caledonian Sleeper to Merseyrail, from the London Cycle Hire Scheme to NorthLink Ferries. We are also the largest non-government operator of civilian air traffic control in the world and offer a range of airside fire and rescue services. We pioneered and operated the London Cycle Hire Scheme (LCHS) on behalf of Transport for London (TfL) since its inception in July 2010, now covering 120km2 providing 12,000 bikes across almost 800 stations, managing over 50 million hires and counting.
North America
In North America, Serco operates some of the most advanced transportation systems in the world by combining proven technologies and efficient operations with an unparalleled focus on service excellence. On the ground, we are able to keep people and commerce moving with expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems and an integrated approach to regional transport. In the air, Serco brings decades of safe and efficient air traffic control services and has credentials in air traffic safety training not matched by any other non-government entity.
Middle East
In the Middle East, Serco design, operate, and maintain heavy rail, light rail, and trams; provide airport operations and facilities management; and provide air navigation services that, combined with our other regions, make us the largest non-government operator of civilian air traffic control in the world. Our experience in rail is unrivalled in the Middle East. We currently operate and maintain all forms including the Palm Jumeirah Transit System, the Dubai Airport Automated People Mover, the Dubai Tram, the Downtown Dubai Trolley System, and the Saudi Arabia North South Railway.
Asia Pacific
In Asia Pacific, our transport capabilities include the operation and maintenance of passenger rail, road traffic management, and transport information services. In 2018, Serco was awarded the contract to manage, operate and maintain the new Lung Shan and Cheung Shan Tunnels in Hong Kong. The Lung Shan Tunnel will be the longest road tunnel in Hong Kong. Under the contract, Serco will be responsible for traffic operations management, incident response, and maintenance and repair work for all tunnel equipment.
