Published: 28 Mar 2013

Western Australia’s Fiona Stanley Hospital has been named winner of the prestigious Government Partnership Excellence Award at Infrastructure Partnerships Australia’s 2013 National Infrastructure Awards in Sydney last night.

Serco Australia and Western Australia’s Department of Health have won the award for the unique partnership that has been forged for the design and delivery of operational services for WA’s most advanced hospital.

When it opens in 2014, the 783-bed Fiona Stanley Hospital will be one of the largest tertiary hospitals in Australia and will provide some of the most complex treatment and care in the world.

Di Mantell, Director of Facilities Management for WA Health, who accepted the award, said:

“I am absolutely delighted that we have been awarded the Government Partnership Excellence Award. We are working in close partnership to create better outcomes for patients.”

David Campbell, Chief Executive of Serco Asia Pacific added:

“It is an incredible honour to be recognised by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia in the Government Partnership Excellence Award. We are extremely proud of the ground breaking work that has already been achieved and the collaborative partnerships that have been developed at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

“Working in partnership with the Department of Health, BT and Siemens, we have already achieved so much. This includes the selection of $32 million of major medical equipment for the hospital; the design and installation of world-class ICT infrastructure and systems; and design of 28 non-clinical services at the new public hospital.

“We consider it a privilege to take on the vital role of designing and running non-clinical services at Fiona Stanley Hospital, helping to care for people of WA. Fiona Stanley Hospital is the WA’s flagship public hospital and we are looking forward to helping to make it the best in the country.”
