Published: 14 Apr 2014

Serco, the international services company, today announces that its Australia business has extended its Traffic Camera Services contract in the state of Victoria for a further three years, with a total contract value of AUD$90m (approximately £50m).

Serco employs more than 100 Mobile Safety Camera Operators across Victoria, a substantial evidence management team and support services to oversee the capturing and processing of millions of images a year.

Stuart Beaumont, Managing Director of Serco Global Services Australia, said: "Serco is proud to be part of Victoria's road safety initiatives and to contribute to government efforts to save lives in the state which has had consecutive record low numbers of fatalities on the roads over the last five years.

"Our partnership with the Department of Justice, Victoria and Victoria Police is very important to us and we are confident of continuing to provide a high quality service across the state, ensuring the smooth operation of traffic camera services."

The three year extension follows on from a seven year contract providing traffic camera services in Victoria.

"It is very pleasing that Serco's strong record, depth of experience and operational expertise has been recognised in the extension of this important contract which will now run until 2017," Mr Beaumont said.
