Serco and ADF commission “Poppies” mural to honour ANZAC Day

Serco and the Australian Defence Force have collaborated to commission a larger-than-life poppy themed mural, honouring ANZAC Day and a successful decade-long partnership.
This year, Serco proudly celebrates 10 years supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF) under the Middle East Logistics and Base Services (MELABS) Contract, with 2020 seeing Serco expand their base support through the delivery of crucial Rescue and Firefighting Services (RFFS).
To mark the growth of the contract and the successful long-term partnership between Serco and ADF, a poppy themed mural was designed and installed at the ADF main operating base - Camp Baird.
“Poppies” also pays homage to ANZAC Day, signifying remembrance for those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations around the world.
Serco Defence Managing Director, Clint Thomas AM, CSC, said the mural was symbolic of the comradery of those in the military and the relationship formed between Serco and ADF over the last decade.
“It is acknowledgement of the strong partnership we have built with the ADF in the Middle East, whilst supporting their military operations in the region.
“I am immensely proud of the highly capable and professional Serco MELABS team who have adapted and responded to a number of challenges over the last 12 months and who continue to deliver 22 high quality service lines for the ADF, day in and day out,” Mr Thomas said.
The MELABS Catering team was recently recognised for their exceptionally high standard of service in the face of COVID-19 with a Global Pulse Award, Serco’s premier award program reserved for the most outstanding achievements across the business.
As a trusted partner of the ADF, Serco delivers facilities management, critical support services and supports complex operations, exercises and activities, providing a comprehensive range of logistics and base services to support the ADF.
