Serco seeks First Nations talent with new career campaign

Published: 12 Jul 2021

Serco Australia has launched a dedicated First Nations People Careers Campaign, designed to provide specific career opportunities for First Nations people across the national workforce.

Kevin Stanley, Serco Indigenous Programs Manager and proud Wiradjuri man, said the development of the First Nations People Careers Campaign has been designed to provide Indigenous Australians with the opportunity to obtain sustainable employment, build their professional skillsets and networks, and progress towards a new career path.

“Through this campaign, we have created a unique application and onboarding process tailored to First Nations Applicants. With a designated Landing page, dedicated HR consultant, the utilisation of Indigenous Community Partners coupled with a fresh interview process and adjusted training package, Serco is on a new path to recruiting First Nations Employees with a more culturally appropriate and respectful approach,” Kevin said.

Currently more than 30 positions are specifically available on our First Nations People Careers page and more will be added regularly. Serco also encourages First Nations people to apply for any of the roles on our careers page.

“In receiving an increased, stable income and participating in education and upskilling, individuals can achieve improved social outcomes for themselves, their mobs and the greater Australian Indigenous community,” Kevin said. “We are fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that is representative of the people and communities we serve.”

Serco’s reconciliation vision, detailed in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), is to promote equality for First Nations people and employment opportunities are a key element to achieving this.

“We are seeking a greater representation of First Nations people in our employment and our business supply in order to move towards employment parity that is representative of population parity – three per cent or greater – so that we can be more representative of the communities we serve,” Kevin said.
