Serco is proud to launch ‘Getting Real’ – our Disability Success Stories digital and audiobook – on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Published: 2 Dec 2025
Serco’s Disability Services team of 1,500 talented employees recently achieved a milestone 30% people with disabilities representation, proudly reflecting the diversely-abled community they serve. This was done through self-disclosure, and is a result of collaborative investments in psychological safety, followed through with tailored support delivered to each team member who made a request.
During this project, 25 of our team members who self-disclosed disability were proud to share their stories of challenge, resilience and how they find deep meaning and support in their roles with Serco. In the knowledge that their stories will inspire others, they discussed journeys of living with illness and disability and of finding hope. They also expressed how customised support tools and structures – coupled with leadership who truly believe in not just diversity, but inclusion and belonging – make a positive impact.
These stories have been woven together in one immersive work – ‘Getting Real’. It’s a book co-written and illustrated by members of our team living with disabilities, and we hope the candid accounts in our story prompt awareness, understanding – and ultimately – empowerment.
