Serco supports Anglicare North Coast build brighter futures in Northern NSW
Published: 15 Jul 2025
Serco has partnered with Anglicare North Coast to build 24 new community housing homes in Northern NSW. These modular houses, which have been constructed as part of a Community Housing Development, support Anglicare North Coast’s social housing development plan offering high quality housing to low-income earners in Grafton.
Since February 2025, the Serco team at Clarence Correctional Centre have worked alongside MOOV Modular, who built and installed the one and two-bedroom units.
Inmates involved in Clarence Correctional Centre’s Community Projects Team have been working alongside the building team, sharing their experience in horticulture and a variety of trade related skills. Over 15 inmates and two staff members have worked on the project, spending three to four days a week on site for six hours a day, helping with landscaping, fencing, and general trade tasks.
Clarence Correctional Centre General Manager Scott Jacques said Serco has donated more than 2,300 hours through in-kind support and labour, which equates to a full-time tradesperson working 9.5 months on this project.
“The in-kind donation from the men in our care and Serco, is a great example of our commitment to giving back to our local community. We live in a region that over the past few years has been ravaged by floods, fires and been crippled by a housing crisis. This support goes a long way in helping some of the most vulnerable people in our communities to access safe and secure housing,” said Mr Jacques.
“Many of the men in our care who have contributed to this project have been in these difficult situations themselves. Being able to give their time and skills to see this project come to life is relatable and rewarding to all involved.”
Serco are honoured to have been an integral part of creating such a welcoming environment for the new residents and see firsthand how our partnership contributes to the overall community outcome.

This project also aligns with Serco’s efforts to help address the need for increased social housing across NSW. This includes our recent successful delivery of houses to regional communities through The Aboriginal Housing Office in partnership with Corrective Services NSW.
Recently, Clarence Correctional Centre operated by Serco on behalf of the NSW Government, also marked its fifth anniversary, celebrating a significant journey focused on safety and security, rehabilitation and reintegration, and community impact.
