- Serco extends ADF medical and dental equipment support contract
Serco is proud to have been awarded an extension on its contract for the delivery of Medical and Dental Equipment Support Services for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), reinforcing Serco’s long‑standing role in supporting the health, wellbeing and operational readiness of ADF personnel in an increasingly complex strategic environment.
For more than 26 years, Defence Australia has trusted Serco to provide specialist medical and dental kitting, equipment management and maintenance services that underpin the ADF’s healthcare capability across Australia. The contract extension reflects Defence’s continued confidence in Serco’s ability to deliver reliable and responsive support in complex and operational environments.
Under the extended arrangement, Serco will continue working alongside Defence to provide end‑to‑end medical and dental equipment support for ADF operations, peacetime training activities, ADF Medical Centres nationwide, and to ADF Units based in Penang, Malaysia. This includes the assembly of more than 5,000 medical kits each year, and the maintenance of over 100,000 items of critical medical and dental equipment.
These services play a vital role in ensuring the ADF are properly equipped to deliver care wherever and whenever it is required - from training environments to deployed operations, supporting the ADF’s ability to operate safely and effectively. This capability also complements the delivery of our Health Services contract, under which Serco provides thousands of medical and allied health professionals across Defence bases nationwide, together forming a comprehensive healthcare footprint focused on keeping ADF personnel fit, healthy and operationally ready.
David Astbury, Serco Asia Pacific’s General Manager - Defence, said the extension reflects the trust placed in Serco to support Australia’s defence capability outcomes over the long term.
“This extension recognises the expertise, consistency and commitment our people bring to this role, and our long‑standing partnership with the ADF in caring for those who serve Australia,” said Mr Astbury.
“Serco remains focused on working collaboratively with Defence to deliver high‑quality services that support ADF readiness now and into the future, building on a partnership grounded in reliability, operational excellence and care for ADF personnel.”
The extension comes at a time when the ADF is focused on maintaining high levels of readiness in an increasingly complex strategic environment, with a strong emphasis on resilient logistics, workforce sustainability and responsive health capability. Serco is proud to partner with Defence to ensure ADF personnel have the equipment and support they need to remain healthy, capable and responsive.
