Why our Supplier Code of Conduct matters

The relationship between Serco and its suppliers is important in achieving high performance in our business and enabling us to impact a better future. So we want to develop long-term relationships with our suppliers and third-parties, based on mutual trust.

We create that trust by treating our suppliers and third-parties with respect, valuing the contribution they make to our business, and speaking up if we see something wrong or experience unfair treatment.

We work with suppliers across the world, which means diverse cultures, different risks and challenges. This can be confusing at times. That is why we have developed a Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure that we are united behind one common principle: Integrity.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct sets out the standards and practices that you, as a supplier of Serco, are required to meet and ensure we all remain faithful to that common principle of Integrity. I therefore ask that you read this Supplier Code of Conduct, understand it, communicate it to your employees and suppliers, and abide by it.

What we expect from you

We expect you to:

  • agree to our Supplier Code of Conduct as a condition of doing business with us and to cascade similar requirements to your supply chains.

  • complete our Supplier Code of Conduct training.

  • pay your suppliers on time.

  • maintain an appropriate corporate governance framework – managing risk, maintaining accurate, structured, and transparent records, paying fair and reasonable taxes in accordance with the law in the jurisdiction in which you are operating, and maintaining auditory compliance.

Where appropriate, we will seek evidence of your compliance and continuous improvement regarding the standards set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

What you can expect from us

We are committed to:

  • applying consistent, fair and transparent procurement processes.

  • behaving in a way that reflects our Values of Trust, Care, Innovation and Pride.

  • working with you to deliver lasting environmental, economic, and social benefits.

  • being accurate and timely in any information we provide.

  • paying you on time and acting fairly.

  • dealing with breaches of our code of conduct promptly and in a fair and ethical way.

  • using our global ethics helpline and investigation process, Speak Up, to enable any grievances you have to be raised and managed appropriately.

  • not turning a blind eye to what a third-party may be doing. If there’s a rumour about any kind of malpractice or anything we see or hear causes us concern, we follow it up, and report it.
