Serco Sharjah Air Traffic Services Launches The National Air Traffic Controller Assistant Training Programme

Serco Sharjah Air Traffic Services has launched 'The National Air Traffic Controller Assistant Training' programme as part of their continuous efforts to meet the demands in the field of Air Traffic Services (ATS).

The training program consists of two phases that will be delivered over a period of eight weeks. This initiative covers Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network and Aeronautical Data Access Systems (AFTN/CADAS) courses, were talented UAE National students will be trained to understand, manage and operate state of the art aeronautical telecommunication systems, enabling them to exchange vital information for aircraft operations such as distress messages, emergency messages, flight safety messages, meteorological messages, flight regularity messages and aeronautical administrative messages.

HH Sheikh Faisal Bin Soud Al Qasimi, Assistant Operation Director of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, attended the launch along with the five UAE Nationals who have enrolled in this training programme, two of which are the first UAE ladies.  Commenting on the launch, Hassan Karam, Key Accounts Director for Aviation at Serco Middle East commented: We are very proud to contribute to the growth of the aviation business in the UAE, and as part of our ongoing Emiratisation efforts, are pleased to foster the professional development of Nationals engaged in Air Traffic Control (ATC).
