Serco wins Game Changer in Health, Safety & ESG at the Game Changers in Sustainability and Technology Awards
Published: 1 Mar 2024
Serco has been awarded Game Changer in Health, Safety & ESG at the Game Changers in Sustainability and Technology Awards run by Transport & Logistics Middle East. Serco was shortlisted alongside Volvo, Bosch, AlRashed Transport and A-Safe. The award was received by Serco Middle East’s General Council Sarah Higgins at the Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre.
This award celebrates Serco's commitment to leading the way in health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring high standards are upheld not only within the organisation but across the contracts Serco operates within and across the wider industry as a whole. It also acknowledges Serco’s strategic focus on ESG (Environmental, Safety and Governance) commitments and sustainability efforts, bolstered recently through the acquisition of multi award-winning sustainability and engineering consultancy Climatize.
There were a number of other initiatives and activities in 2023 and 2024 that led to this win including but not limited to:
Contractors Forums
Serco ran several Contractors Forums dedicated to discussing HSE challenges openly with the wider community to work closely together to prevent incident and accidents across the region.
Health Checkups
For colleagues working in remote locations or on site, travelling to clinics for health checkups isn’t always possible. Serco brought the checkups to them.
Hero to Net Zero
In the lead up to COP28, Serco ran a variety of internal engagement programmes, ensuring all colleagues became more aware of the impact they make on the environment. This is something Serco is actively continuing in 2024.
Zero Harm Week
An annual happening in Serco’s internal communications channel, this year focused on situational awareness with every office and every contract undergoing a safety stand-down.
