Middle East Logistics and Base Operations Services (MELABS)

August 2011 - Present

Serco was awarded the Middle East Logistics and Base Operations Services (MELABS) contract in 2011 and again in 2018. 

We deliver services to the Australian Defence Force in the Middle East region under a hybrid contract management and service model delivered in partnership by Serco Asia Pacific and Serco Middle East. 

There are over 21 service lines provided by Serco to MELABS across base operations, hospitality and support services. Under the umbrella of base operations services, we provide infrastructure utilities management services, facility project services, facilities maintenance services as well as pest control. Hospitality-related services include healthcare, catering, reception, accommodation management, laundry, cleaning, retail and gymnasium services.

Serco also provides a variety of support services to MELABS which includes warehousing, waste management, provisions of ground refueling services, movement coordination services, maintenance of Australian Defence Force vehicles, procurement, asset hire, transport and management services. 

All services are delivered at the highest standard possible, whilst ensuring quality and safety. 

Over the course of the contract, Serco has supported MELABS in becoming ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and HACCP certified for its excellent quality management system, which demonstrates our commitment to providing high quality services across this contract. 
Serco implements its fundamental values wherever we can. At MELABS, we’ve pushed forth our value of ‘innovation’ and developed an online product catalogue to manage client procurement needs. 

 

About the project

The forward operating base is a CAT 8 military aerodrome located in the Middle East. 
The aerodrome is home to both the host nation and coalition partners.
