Rescue and Firefighting Services at a Forward Operating Base

In 2020 Serco was awarded the contract for the provision of operational Rescue and Firefighting Services (RFFS) on behalf of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Our fire and rescue services comprises of 37 operational staff, management of the operational coalition fire station and specialised fire vehicles. The service is capable of handling all incidents across a range of site-specific risks, such as fire, rescue, hazardous materials and first aid. We provide a high quality service backed by a thorough task resource analysis (TRA), combined with new standard operating procedure development as well as risk assessment review and update.
Serco provides a skilled, professional and experienced workforce consisting of internationally qualified personnel of multiple nationalities. In addition, we supply the latest specialist fire service equipment, vehicles and technologies, firsts for both our client and the region.
Serco provides a range of service elements through its rescue and firefighting service, including:
- Aircraft rescue and firefighting
- Structural rescue and firefighting
- Hazardous materials response
- Road traffic accident response and vehicle extrication
- First aid and basic life support
- Control room operations
- Incident command and management
- Internal and external training plus maintenance of competence scheme
- Vehicle service and maintenance
- Equipment service and maintenance

About the project
The forward operating base is a CAT 8 military aerodrome located in the Middle East.
The aerodrome is home to both the host nation and coalition partners.
Serco’s RFFS provides both a dedicated Aviation Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) and Structural Rescue and Firefighting (SRFF) capability as part of the coalition and host nation’s emergency response.
