Dubai, United Arab Emirates Dubai Airports Firefighter Training

Serco has been enlisted to provide training to fire and rescue services professionals on behalf of Dubai Airports.

Training commenced in 2021 in the form of a 1-year rolling contract and was extended through to 2023.

Utilising training ground facilities at Dubai World Central (DWC) and the deployment of Serco IFTC trainers and training material, Serco carried out an accredited aviation 8-week initial firefighter training course as part of the nationalisation programme at the airport facility for the Emirate of Dubai, the first programme of its kind in the country.

Due to two successful cohorts, this has been extended with further courses booked for 2022 and 2023, with the potential to continue into 2024.

We re-certified and re-validated senior Dubai Airports training personnel in Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructors (CFBTI) and operational supervisor requirements, enabling them to deliver maintenance of competence to their workforce.

Assessment of fire training ground assets with recommendations of improvements required to deliver further training courses and to enhance the maintenance of the competence scheme.

Through the deployment of bilingual instructors, we were able to accommodate the written and verbal requirements of the Emirati trainees, ensuring knowledge and understanding was instilled.

Upskilled the existing fireground support team to fulfil fire safety officer role for compartment fire behaviour and future instructional duties.

Delivered training in alignment to international accreditation requirements over two 8-week periods to enable Emirati trainees to become licensed aerodrome firefighters with an additional three courses booked for 2022 and 2023.

Serco established a Middle East division of its International Fire Training Centre (IFTC) to accommodate the needs of the international airports within the region. Training sessions can also be offered to other clients throughout the region, either utilising Dubai Airports facilities or another site in alignment to client preference.

Some of the services Serco can provide are:
