- Serco sponsors Community Civic Awards to find local hero
Serco is once again sponsoring the prestigious Community Civic Awards this year in an attempt to find the local community hero of Welwyn Hatfield.
Run by Welwyn Hatfield Borough, the awards are considered to be the highest accolade bestowed by the Council. Now in their eighth year, they are presented annually to people who live or work in the borough and who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment, dedication and energy to serving their community.
Up to four nominations will be selected by a community awards panel, chaired by the Mayor, Councillor Howard Morgan, with finalists contacted during March. Presentations will take place at the Annual Council Meeting and Reception in June 2014 where winners will receive a trophy, certificate and cheque for £250 and be entered into the Civic Awards Roll of Honour Book for posterity.
Phil Braggiotti, Serco's Manager for the Welwyn Hatfield Environmental Services contract, said: "Serco is privileged to be supporting the Civic Awards for the eighth consecutive year. We take pride in the service we provide to the borough and are honoured to support these awards to celebrate local people who dedicate themselves to their community."
The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Howard Morgan, added: "These awards are a great way of acknowledging the many good works that take place behind the scenes in our community. The commitment and dedication shown by Welwyn Hatfield residents for the good of our community is very impressive and these awards give us a chance to say 'thank you' to someone deserving. I am pleased to declare nominations for the 2014 Civic Awards are now open."
