Serco to create new jobs in Dumfries and Galloway

Published: 15 Dec 2015

Serco has announced that it will be recruiting for up to 20 new roles in preparation for the opening of the new District General Hospital for Dumfries & Galloway in December 2017. The company hopes to fill these positions with people from within the local community.

Construction work is now well underway to create a modern, fit-for-purpose healthcare facility at the Garroch roundabout site, off the Dumfries by-pass.

Serco will provide an Estates Management Service and associated Helpdesk, as well as an Energy Management Service at the new hospital under a 25-year contract with NHS Dumfries & Galloway.

The company will be looking to recruit a range of technicians from key trades with the majority of vacancies being advertised early in the New Year. Those interested in applying should visit www.dgtap.co.uk for further information.

Serco will also, at a later date, be launching an apprenticeship programme to provide younger members of the community with further employment opportunities.

Serco is being supported by local employment experts, DG TAP to ensure as many local people as possible are given the chance to benefit from the employment opportunities available.

Marlene Boyd, Serco’s Regional Account Director for Scotland said: “Serco’s vision is to build a team where everyone wants to play their part in maintaining a building to help clinical staff deliver modern and effective healthcare for the people of Dumfries and Galloway – from the day the hospital opens and for the duration of the 25 year contract”.

“We are delighted to be working with DG TAP and to be providing a number of varied, long-term employment opportunities in the region”.
