Serco’s Environmental Services business awarded three contract extensions and one new contract

Serco’s Environmental Services business has recently been awarded three new contract extensions and one new contract, which in total are valued at over £45m. 

Serco has been awarded contract extensions by three separate Local Authority clients; Woking Borough Council, Charnwood Borough Council, and Canterbury City Council. Under these contract extensions, Serco will continue to provide a range of services including waste and recycling collections, street cleaning and landscape maintenance services, for these three Local Authority clients.

Woking Borough Council has awarded Serco a five-year contract extension to provide street cleaning and landscapes maintenance services throughout the Borough. The extension, to October 2022, is valued at £15m in total, and will extend Serco’s working partnership with this Council to 20 years.

Charnwood Borough Council has awarded Serco a three-year contract extension to provide waste, recycling and street cleaning services valued at £15m in total. This extends Serco’s existing relationship with this Council to ten years, with further extensions of up to four years possible under the contract, through mutual agreement.

Canterbury City Council has awarded Serco an extension to its landscapes services contract by a further five years to January 2023, valued £12m in total.  Serco has been Canterbury City Council’s services partner since 1996, retaining the business through three successive re-competes.

Additionally, the company has been awarded a new six-year contract with Milton Keynes Council to manage the care and maintenance of local play areas and play equipment, worth £4m in total.  This new contract supplements Serco’s existing long term contracts, with Milton Keynes Council, for waste and recycling collections, street cleaning and landscapes maintenance services and extends our remit to care for the entire streetscene.
