- Wake up refreshed and take on Scotland’s slopes
Winter sport enthusiasts are being encouraged to swap the Alps for Aviemore – and make the most of the fresh snow hitting the UK.
Scotland is home to some of the finest ski ranges in the country and unlike other European destinations, there is no need to endure long waits at airport check-in.
With Serco’s Caledonian Sleeper, the overnight rail service, adventure seekers in London can board the train in the evening and wake up at the foot of the Cairngorms – with the full day ahead to sample the slopes.
Iain Baxter, Serco’s Marketing and Revenue Director for Caledonian Sleeper, said: “Aviemore is one of our most popular destinations and each year we welcome plenty of Londoners keen for an adventurous weekend in one of the UK’s best winter destinations.
“One of the biggest advantages of travelling with the Sleeper is that we have no limits when it comes to baggage – so guests can bring their skis with them and not have to worry about paying any excess fees.”
The Caledonian Sleeper isn’t only suitable for lone adventurers or couples – it’s also perfect for families. The service offers a family ticket which allows parents to book two shared interconnecting rooms, ski and snowboarding gear transported free of charge.
Mark Tate, Chief Executive, Cairngorms Business Partnership, said: "The Cairngorms National Park is a fantastic winter destination just one sleep away with the Caledonian Sleeper. From sledging, quad biking, riding zip lines to skiing, boarding and feeding deer there is plenty to enjoy in this winter wonderland before relaxing with a dram by a fire in one of our local bars or hotels."
