Serco’s leisure business wins Operator of the Year for 6th time at UK Pool & Spa Awards
Published: 8 Jan 2025
The awards ceremony took place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham earlier this month, as aquatics professionals from across the country came to celebrate the industry at an event which has been running since 2010.
As well as winning the title for best operator, Serco also claimed the Water Leisure Venue of the Year prize, with Maidstone Leisure Centre winning the award for the first time in its history.
Simon Lane, Managing Director for Leisure said:
“These award wins cap a phenomenal 12 months for our leisure business. A period during which we won three new contracts, introduced an industry-leading employee benefits scheme and helped thousands of customers to work towards and reach their health and wellbeing goals.
“Congratulations to the Maidstone Leisure Centre team, and thank you to all colleagues throughout the business who have played their part in the ongoing success of our aquatics programme.”
Andrew Taylor, Serco’s National Aquatics & Dryside Manager said:
“I would like to thank the Waterland Media team, who do such a great job organising and staging this key event for our sector. Our table had a great night.
“To win both the operator and venue award was a proud moment for myself and the national aquatics team, but these accolades belong to the people who work at our centres, who support swimmers of all ages and abilities to enjoy their time in the pool!”
Serco’s leisure business operates over 50 centres, including Bisham Abbey, Lilleshall and Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympic movement.
