Serco Leisure wins Water Leisure Operator of the Year at UK Pool & Spa Awards
Published: 18 Dec 2018
Serco Leisure has won the title Water Leisure Operator of the Year at the 2018 UK Pool & Spa Awards held on the 10th of this month in Birmingham.
The event, now in its ninth year, attracted many big names from the pool industry, including the London Swimming Pool Company and World Leisure. The VIP guest at this year’s gathering was 5-time Olympian and current TV presenter Mark Foster.
Kate McKnight, Serco Leisure’s Head of Aquatics said:
“We’ve had a great year in the pool at Serco Leisure and this just puts the icing on the cake. We have a really strong aquatics offering; swim teachers who change lives, fun inflatable sessions which bring the whole family together, swim clubs nurturing the next Mark Foster and Rebecca Adlington - it all feeds into a set of water-based attractions we’re extremely proud of.
“I’d like to thank Christina and the team at UK Pool & Spa for organising such a well-managed and fun event.”
Christina Connor on behalf of Waterland Media, who run the event said:
“Congratulations to Serco Leisure and all our winners this year. This was our biggest event yet, with more entrants, more people voting online for their favourites, and more people in attendance on the night than ever before. Mark Foster was the perfect VIP guest. He was a magnificent mingler, answered everyone’s questions and helped really bring the night together!”
The UK Pool & Spa Awards, which recognise excellence in the aquatics leisure industry were once again held at the Vox Conference Centre, part of the NEC’s Resorts World building. Serco Leisure also won the Water Leisure Venue of the Year for its Water Meadows centre in Mansfield. It’s other entered sites, Wet ‘n’ Wild, Bangor Aurora and Erdington Leisure Centre all picked up Gold Standard certificates, indicating they were just one spot away from a win in their category.
