Serco defence research The Human Factor

Against a backdrop of rising global tensions and a recruitment crisis within the defence industry, we commissioned research into public perception of the Defence Enterprise to better understand people's views about careers in defence. Our research also explored how to attract skills and talent across a full network of organisations, industries and activities - both public and private sector - within the defence sector.

As the face of warfare changes we will need the skills of multiple generations to meet these new challenges. Our research has revealed a clear shift, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials, towards a career in the Defence Enterprise.

0%
agree the Defence Enterprise offers opportunities for meaningful and purpose-driven work
0%
believe soft skills are important in modern defence operations
0%
of Gen Z and Millennials would consider a career in defence

“Not only is a career in defence critical to our country, but it offers a unique and rewarding career.”
