for a Net Zero future
Together to zero

Impacting a better future: people, place, planet

The climate and nature crisis is one of the most urgent challenges of our time. We fully recognise both the risks it poses and the opportunities it brings to our business. With this in mind, we acknowledge our responsibility to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and protect a healthy natural environment, working in partnership with our customers, partners, and suppliers.

To tackle this, we have implemented a Net Zero Action Plan (NZAP), setting an ambitious goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 or sooner. This multi-year program outlines the necessary steps to reduce our own operational emissions while also supporting our customers in their Net Zero journeys. Clear ownership and commitment from our business leaders are at the heart of this plan.

In 2024, our Net Zero targets were validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting firm, science-backed goals to guide our environmental efforts in the years ahead. These validated targets represent a pivotal milestone, driving all of our work to minimise our environmental impact.

A force for good

Our goal is closely aligned with our purpose to impact a better future, as environmental sustainability is key to the wellbeing of society. This commitment is demonstrated through the ongoing reduction of our GHG footprint and the delivery of sustainability services to governments worldwide.

Our NZAP plays a vital role in this effort, laying out a structured, multi-year approach to achieving Net Zero by 2050 - or sooner. The NZAP not only guides our internal sustainability practices but also helps our customers reach their own Net Zero goals. It further reinforces our dedication to making a meaningful, science-backed impact on climate action and contributing to a more sustainable world.

“In our Net Zero Action Plan (NZAP), we have created a practical, forward-thinking strategy that not only reduces our environmental impact but also aligns with our long-term business goals. This approach contributes to a more sustainable future while driving innovation, improving efficiency, and fostering resilience in our operations and offerings.”

Our Net Zero Action Plan commitments

Decarbonising our supply chain

A key goal is to ensure that 95% of our suppliers, by emissions, have Science-Based Targets (SBTs) in place by the end of 2028. This will provide a clear and standardised framework for reducing emissions and aligning with global climate goals.

Our Net Zero people and culture

We are integrating Net Zero principles into our people and culture strategy by fostering a culture of sustainability through learning and development, ensuring our teams support our environmental goals. Additionally, we are committed to a 25% reduction in business travel emissions by 2030, from a 2022 baseline, by promoting remote working, sustainable travel options, and optimising travel needs.

Electrifying our fleet

Our UK Net Zero fleet strategy focuses on transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs), and where this is not currently feasible, we will use renewable fuels as an interim solution.

Decarbonising shipping

Decarbonising shipping is a crucial step in reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to working with our customers, partners and suppliers to identify and adopt low-emission technologies and energy-efficient solutions.

Decarbonising the built environment

We are 100% reliant on renewable-sourced electricity globally and will continue to integrate renewable-sourced energy (RSE) within our contracts to ensure our operations and managed spaces are powered by clean energy. Additionally, we will explore innovative solutions to reduce emissions in the built environment, including green leasing, on-site renewable energy, electric heating and energy efficiency.

Supporting our customers to reach Net Zero

We are committed to supporting our customers' transitions to Net Zero by focusing on key areas that drive sustainability, including operational efficiencies, electric fleet and renewable fuels, and decarbonising the built environment.
