Serco secures extra year of service at RAF Brize Norton

Published: 25 Jun 2013

Serco has been awarded the second of three option years to continue running the Multi Activity Contract at RAF Brize Norton on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). This additional year, valued at over £8m, extends the existing contract, originally awarded in 2009, to September 2015.

Brize Norton in Oxfordshire is the Royal Air Force's largest station and is used as the main Air Point of Embarkation (APOE) for deploying UK troops overseas. Serco has been delivering a range of activities on site since 1997, from facilities management (FM) services through to engineering support.

Karen Smart, Serco's Partnership Director for Front Line Command said: "We are delighted to be able to continue delivering essential services at RAF Brize Norton for another year. Serco is extremely proud of its relationship with the Royal Air Force and especially so at Brize Norton, which is founded on 16 years of solid operational performance and service excellence.

"Brize has gone through - and continues to go through - a period of transformation and Serco will carry on supporting both the ageing fleets and the new platforms and units which transferred following the closure of RAF Lyneham in 2012. This partnership is something we are keen to continue well into the future".
