Serco tours the South West for National Apprenticeship Week

To celebrate National Apprenticeship week, Serco has sponsored a double decker bus which will tour five cities in the South West of England.  The bus tour encourages local businesses to get on board with Apprenticeships to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. 

This event is part of the sixth National Apprenticeship Week, which is taking place on 11-15 March 2013, and sees hundreds of events and activities taking place across England. 

The over-arching theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2013 is "Apprenticeships Deliver".  This year it is about showcasing the achievements and benefits Apprenticeships deliver for both apprentices and their employers and utilising their experiences to positively inform and persuade others to get involved.

The five day 'GET ON BOARD WITH APPRENTICESHIPS' bus tour started in Redruth on Monday 11th March and will continue to tour Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and pull up in Bristol on Friday 15th March. The tour will showcase how Apprenticeships deliver for employers.  Employers, current apprentices and the National Apprenticeship Service will be on hand to provide information and advice.

Lesley Watson, Serco's Head of Apprenticeships said: "We are proud to be sponsoring the bus tour, which will highlight the many benefits of apprenticeships to both businesses and young people up and down the country. Serco's own commitment to the national apprenticeship programme has enabled us to recruit some exciting new talent into the business whilst supporting young people to develop their skills and progress. We currently have over 1400 apprentices working across our UK businesses undertaking over 30 different types of apprenticeships."
